2 Chronicles 26:9

26:9 Uzziah built and fortified towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, Valley Gate, and at the Angle. 1 

2 Chronicles 27:3-4

27:3 He built the Upper Gate to the Lord’s temple and did a lot of work on the wall in the area known as Ophel. 2  27:4 He built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests.

2 Chronicles 29:3

29:3 In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the Lord’s temple and repaired them.

2 Chronicles 32:30

32:30 Hezekiah dammed up the source of the waters of the Upper Gihon and directed them down to the west side of the City of David. 3  Hezekiah succeeded in all that he did.

2 Chronicles 33:11

33:11 So the Lord brought against them the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria. They seized Manasseh, put hooks in his nose, 4  bound him with bronze chains, and carried him away to Babylon.

1 tn On the meaning of the Hebrew word מִקְצוֹעַ (miqtsoa’), see HALOT 628 s.v. עַ(וֹ)מִקְצֹ. The term probably refers to an “angle” or “corner” somewhere on the eastern wall of Jerusalem.

2 tn Heb “wall of Ophel.” See HALOT 861 s.v. II עֹפֶל.

3 sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.

4 tn Heb “and they seized him with hooks.”
